2017 Top 5 Projects

Hello again,

As stated in my wrap up, I want to share my favorite projects of 2017!

It was hard to narrow down to just 5 projects, but I picked 5 that were special to me, or that I felt I learned a lot from.

This was a card that came together exactly how I had envisioned it. This usually doesn’t happen! I wanted to make a Thank-you card for my Sis-in-law’s Best friend who had to take care of my Niece and Nephew for a weekend while they were photographing a wedding. The recipient loves Monkeys, So I wanted them to represent my silly little Niece and nephew….. I love that Ollie is holding a banana as it is Magnus’s favorite things in the world (he actually asked for banana’s for Christmas!)

Hula-Mae-by-Patti-2-wm.jpg

I really am proud of this project. To be totally honest I struggled with this one of the most. I knew I wanted her standing on the Aloha with a sun behind her and some large palm trees surrounding her. I really have a hard time placing elements when I make scenery cards, and I know it is because I use pattern paper as a crutch sometimes. When this canvas finally came together I was very pleased. I did note that my Aunt who received this as a gift was looking at how I made the Aloha stand out (just wish I had put the brown back behind the O)

Another card that came out exactly as I envisioned. I love these little unicorns/ ponies from Kraftin Kimmie stamps, and I knew they would make the perfect little girl card. I love how they are bouncing in the clouds with a rainbow sunburst behind them! I am particularly proud that I got over my fears of colouring white!

Week-2--KC-Prisma-Red-Panda.jpg

This was a special piece to me. Kit and Clowder gave me a gift certificate to complete one of the monthly classes as a prize for doing some of my lessons. I knew right away I wanted to try my hand at colouring with my prisma coloured pencils, but as soon as I saw this stamp with a red panda I knew this would be one “just for me” Red pandas are my favorite animal, and I love how vibrant this one turned out.

Stamp by Ching- Chou Kuik (note sells on Etsy, has so much wonderful fantasy art)

Class by: Alyce at Kit and Clowder (Not only is she an amazing teacher she has helped me improve my art skills immensely over the last couple years! note: this class is only part of a subscription service that I am signed up for the monthly marker class. You can only access the project classes if you are a monthly subscriber)

Lets-Be-Mermaids-Canvas-Pat.jpg

My favorite project I made in 2017 was this splendid mermaid project for my Auntie! Probably the most “mixed media” of any of the projects this year, I used: distress ink oxide, paper, paint, copics, pearlescent watercolours, stickles glitter glue, liquid pearls and beads! Although not my usual style I actually love the distressed look of this project. I was very happy how my mermaid turned out, and my Aunt actually squealed when she saw this! She is a big mermaid fan and loved that the mermaid was named mermaid queen (as she likes to think she is a mermaid queen herself!)

Well that is a wrap on 2017, looking forward to meeting new crafty goals in 2018!

Lots of hugs,

Patti
