A Bit Mix Media, A Bit Scrappy With Kraftin Kimmie Stamps Cuddles The Dog

Cobalt-Canvas

Hello Krafty Friends,

This month has flown by so fast!

I have been truly blessed to be a guest designer for the month of March on the Kraftin Kimmie Team! I think they are a super awesome group of talented individuals, who have been inspiring me all month!

I am sharing my project for the Scrappy challenge over at the Kraftin Kimmie Friends facebook group. It was oodles of fun trying my hand at making a mix media canvas with a bit of the old scrapbooking flare I use to do before I started card making.

I knew the moment I first opened up my dream team package and saw the new Sparkling Sapphire ink that I was in love! The ink is this lovely deep blue shade that reminds me of my little fur ball Cobalt.

When my family and I were coming up with a name for our new puppy, My brother ended up thinking up the name Cobalt and it won against the literally hundreds of names I had jot down 13 years ago. He was named after the car Chevy Cobalt, but I secretly enjoyed the name because as a fan of many pigments I have always enjoyed this colour.

Cobalt just turned 13 in December and I really wanted to make a Canvas with the photos we took in the fall of him sitting in the leaves. I thought Cuddles the puppy stamp set would look cute and almost sketchy if I just simply stamped him in the corner with the Sparkling Sapphire ink, I then make sure to use the ink for the Cobalt lettering, and stamped the sentiment in it as well. I used the pawprint stencil with some embossing paste, and then sprayed some Heidi Swapp mist over top of it to make it a bit more teal/ darker blue then the paste originally was. Lastly I added some layering with some stickers and added some of the blue enamel dots from the rainbow Kraftin Kimmie Dots Collection to add a bit of embellishment.

I really love how this turned out and I think it will be a nice reminder of my love for him, he truly has a pawprint forever embedded on my heart.

A new Scrappy challenge starts March 27th, using a Kraftin Kimmie stamp all that is required is making a project that isn’t a card!

Lots of hugs,

Patti

2017- A Crafty Reflection

Hello, Gals and Pals!

As a New Year is approaching, what better way to start it by reflecting on what a big year 2017 was for me.

On January 30th it was announced that I would be joining The Some Odd Girl Design Team! I was very excited to join, as one of my crafty goals was to make it on a Design team. The girls on my team are a bunch of very lovely, creative ladies, who have really inspired me over the past year. I have a bunch of crafty goals with this Design Team heading in the New year that I hope will push my crafty adventures forward!

Another goal I had in 2017 was to work on Mix Media projects. I have had a lot of comments in the past that people love my cards and don’t want to give them away, so they display them on shelves. Paper doesn’t last forever though so I came up with the idea to make my art more permanent. Canvas tiles let me do this, but they still fit the standard size I like to make my projects in, and I can still create with my graphic, clean style that I love.

Here I made a Canvas for my Sis-in-law who loves coffee. It may look like a card but with the addition of a hook on the back of the tile she can now hang it in her coffee nook

Lastly, I wanted to focus on colouring with more vibrancy and contrast, to do this I really honed in on deeping my shadows and leaving room for hi-lights. In the past I have struggled with this and although it will always be a work in progress, I am happy to say that in the first time in a while I am truly happy with most of my colouring.

I love the contrast I achieved on this dino. I really amplified the dark cast shadows and added hi-lights where they were supposed to be.

In my next blog post, I shall post my Top 5 favorite projects I made in 2017! It will be a more countdown style with quick little notes about each one. Then Tomorrow I will share my crafty goals for 2018! (hint one of them is to stop neglecting this blog)

Lots of hugs,

Patti

Trick or Treat Some Odd Girl Blog Hop

Wizard Panda by Patti

Ding Dong!
Welcome to our annual Trick or Treat with the Odd Girls!
Our hop is full of spooktacular Halloween Tricks and Treats. Don’t worry, our tricks won’t be too scary! AND, just like trick or treating for candy, you don’t want to skip any houses…or blogs in this case! Every stop along the way will have (crafty) goodies for you but you won’t get the treats you must be a good trick or treater and stop at every house and leave your comment. You can Trick or Treat with us thru midnight EDT on November 3rd, winners will be announced here on Nov 5th!

Lately, I have been challenging myself to get out of my “colouring comfort zone.” I was finding that I wasn’t enjoying colouring as much, because I was doing the same thing over and over so for this project I wanted to see if I could change the little Wizard Bandit from a Racoon into a Red Panda (which is my favorite animal!) and I am pretty happy with the results. Just goes to show a little challenge can spark some creative fun!

I added my magical red panda to the front of a canvas where I wanted to use mainly orange and black with just a pop of green, I must admit I never make Halloween cards as I have no one to give them to… so I made a canvas instead! and will use it as  Halloween decor!

Here is our hop order for you after you leave the comfort of my porch…
Patti <—–You are here!
Wondering what our treats are?
Well, of course we’ll be doing a coupon code for 31% off at the shop throughout the hop, TRICKORTREAT.
Then from those of you who comment on every stop we’ll be giving away 3, $15 GCs to the shop. Awesome, right? Make sure to stop in our community, I may have another surprise up my sleeve as well.
And there you have it! Happy Haunting – I mean HOPPING!

Lots of hugs,

Patti
